Sunday School

Every Sunday morning our children are taught the Word of God. We currently offer the following classes.

4 & 5 Year Old Class

4 and 5 year olds are taught from the Preschool curriculum from Great Commissions Publications, which offers little ones a foundation of Bible basics, starting with creation and encompassing the story of our redemption.

Younger Elementary Class

Long a tradition of Reformed churches, Trinity’s children are instructed in the memorization and understanding of the children’s catechism. This class, for children in 1st and 2nd grades, uses Great Commission Publication’s Kid’s Quest Curriculum and their First Catechism.

Older Elementary Class

Children in 3rd through 8th grades are instructed in the memorization and understanding of the catechism. All the students are currently working to learn a modernization of the Westminster Shorter Catechism.

Trinity Youth Discipleship

Children in junior and senior high school grades meet every other Wednesday evening for teaching, prayer, games, and fellowship. Occasionally, trips are made to local venues, parks, and other attractions.

Examining Covenant Children

Participation in the Lord’s Table

Before a covenant child may partake of the Lord's Supper, he or she must be interviewed by the session. This interview consists of the following parts — all intended to elicit a credible profession of faith from the child:

  1. Recitation of the Ten Commandments (short or long form)

  2. Recitation of the Lord’s Prayer (word for word)

  3. Brief examination on the Children's Catechism or Westminster Shorter Catechism (about 10 questions)

  4. Examination of the child on his understanding of his personal sin and the work of Jesus. In other words, why was the cross necessary?

  5. Examination of the child on his understanding of the Scriptural command to examine himself (1 Cor. 11:28)
